“Home is where the heart is.” This common phrase is a reminder that our homes are a central place in our lives—where we rest our heads, nourish our bodies and create fond memories with loved ones. It’s the epicenter of our world, where we start and end each day, and where we keep our most treasured possessions.
This month, we bring you our Home issue, which is full of ideas for creating the best environment wherever you call home. We also share the story of how one of Bend’s most historic homes, the G.P. Putnam House, links not only to Bend’s earliest years, but to aviator Amelia Earhart. And be sure to read about the sustainable (and beautiful) design of architect and steward of our rivers, Rick Wright.
With springtime on its way upon us, there’s no better time for a little DIY project. Refresh your interior with a few new home decor accents. For inspiration, we included some ideas reflecting the Color of the Year in this issue. Or, tackle one room in your home for a more dramatic update. When you’re finished, relax by trying a turmeric latte recipe or a good book, both which you can find in our story “Hearth Warmers.”
We hope this issue inspires you to appreciate the place you call home—both your personal dwelling and our shared community in Bend—whether you’ve just moved here or it’s a place your family has occupied for years.
Here’s to home sweet home!
