Stay Close to Home and Connect with Authentic Community
When searching for adventure with girlfriends, there’s no need to travel far with Gather in Bend. Founded in 2015 by Jill Rose and Kelli Singer, Gather’s goal is to provide experiences and spaces to cultivate connections among women. Gather events are curated to encourage the growth Rose and Singer believe occurs when women share their worlds. “When we leave competition at the door, we lift each other up,” says Rose. “This is where the magic happens.” Each Gathering is inspired by themes which in the past have included art, cooking, wellness or personal growth. The evening begins with introductions and prompts for an immersive experience, next comes a guided activity, then a gourmet meal served at long harvest tables that encourage conversation and connection among guests. Each event is open to the community with the hope that an evening of education and dinner party might begin among strangers or acquaintances who leave as friends. Singer says, “It brings (us) joy to design a space, prepare a meal, and watch women connect in authentic community.”
Healthy Meals and Conversation
Each Gather experience includes a seasonally-inspired menu served at farm tables to encourage dialogue between guests. “With all of (your) senses engaged, sharing a meal around the table is not just about nourishing our bodies,” Singer says. “It’s an opportunity to create connection and build relationships.”
Create New Friendships
An open invitation means Gather guest lists are always different. Gather experiences are designed for participants, and those new to Bend to meet other women. “At the heart of Gather is our shared dream to connect women,” says Rose.
Care for Your Mind and Body
As a certified yoga instructor, Jill Rose ensures that several Gather events, such as yoga nidra during the holiday season, include learning about the mind-body connection. Gathers are structured, “To give women a sense of retreat,” Rose says.
Explore Bend and Expand Your Mind
Partnerships with local female entrepreneurs create opportunities to grow in new areas. Angelina Swanson, of Angelina Organic Skincare, opened her studio to Gather where attendees learned about clean beauty, and received both skin analyses and massage.
Express Ideas and Dreams with Art
Artist Kelli Singer makes sure art is an integral theme throughout the year. Whether learning techniques of encaustic art or facilitating goal setting with vision boards, creativity creates connection to a deeper self and between attendees.
