March 2017 Lifestyle Letter 1

Bring on Spring!

After this extraordinary winter, I find myself dreaming of spring, and even the arrival of warm summer days. While I do love the way our landscape remained a winter wonderland for so long, like most Bendites, I reached a point where I was so ready for it to be over.

Due to the heavy snow, we had to accept the fact that we couldn’t come and go at our leisure. We had to reschedule our days—often. Most families began their morning waiting to hear about school closures. Businesses were severely impacted. Residents grew accustomed to seeing people shoveling off roofs or a car completely buried in snow. For about a month, we were out of our routines and uncomfortable with that feeling. With the New Year, we wanted to move forward but, quite literally, were stuck in our driveways.

Now that spring is near, it’s refreshing to get out and explore Central Oregon. We at Bend Lifestyle dedicate this issue to the arts—giving you a closer look at three inspiring artists, the local music scene and live entertainment around town this month. I hope you are able to get out and enjoy all that Bend’s art scene has to offer, as we are very fortunate to have such talent in our midst.
